Evolution v. Intelligent Design The contest between creationism and evolution for primacy within school curricula and in society at large is one of the major wars of ideas currently raging in our hearts and minds. I have recently been reading Thomas Woodward's Doubts about Darwin: A History of Intelligent Design (Grand Rapids, MI: Baker Books, 2003) to try to get a handle on the movement. What I have read so far convinces me that Intelligent Design is, as many evolutionary scientists have already concluded, simply Creationism dressed up in secular clothing. I will record my reactions to this book and the movement it encapsulates in several articles as I am able. Modified: 09/06/2004 |
