A careless partisan for Feminism.
- Newsweek 10/20/03:
But the world hasn’t
changed as much [under the influence of Feminism] as we like to tell
ourselves.... Otherwise the governor-elect of California wouldn’t be a guy who
thinks it’s “playful” to grab and grope, and the voters wouldn’t ratify that
attitude. As a candidate for Governor of California, Arnold
Schwarzenegger admitted to some groping and grabbing, said that at the time
he thought he was being playful, and apologized for any offense he had caused.
Therefore Quindlen is off base when she implies that he believed at the time
of the election that such behavior was merely "playful." In addition,
since liberals were out in legions during Clinton's impeachment distinguishing
between public and private life, no liberal has standing to criticize a voting
public for making that same distinction. Therefore the voters did not
ratify any attitude (even the contrite attitude of Schwarzenegger) about
private behavior.
